The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (Pontifical Catholic University of Chile [PUC]) is one of Chile's oldest universities and one of the highest regarded educational institutions in Latin America. It was ranked the number one university in Latin America in 2018 according to the QS ranking, and is one of the most important centres in the region for exploring both the development of AI technologies and for considering their effects. The Department of Computer Science (DCC) and PUC’s Scientific Centers of Excellence are developing various research pathways in relation to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Based on collaboration, an interdisciplinary approach and science at the service of social improvement, centres and labs such as the IA Lab and the Millennium Institute of Foundational Research on Data (IMFD) are committed to the development of new algorithms and knowledge acquisition tools, as well as the design of new techniques to study data in its complex dimensions.

The Center for Chilean Literature Studies (CELICH) is an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to the study, preservation, and diffusion of Chilean letters and culture. Research areas include the study of the circulation of literature and culture in the digital era to the acquisition, preservation and distribution of heritage archives in collaboration with the PUC Humanities Library.
